The Rec and Culture Network is a tool to connect non-profit sport, recreation and culture-based service providers in Strathcona County with the public, supporting a community driven approach for a healthy and livable Strathcona County. 

RC Network Workshop

Free Rec and Culture Network workshop open to local non-profit sport, recreation and culture groups.

Strathcona County is hosting a workshop on Monday, May 27 from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the Arbor Care Room at Millennium Place. Topics include:

•    Building a basic digital marketing strategy
•    Leveraging The Rec and Culture Network
•    Introductory sponsorship and partnership program development
•    Group networking

Please register online or e-mail Paula.Hennig@strathcona.ca with your group's name and number of representatives (max. 3 per group). 

Light refreshments will be provided.

Learning opportunity: positive youth development through sport

Strathcona County hosted a Rec and Culture Network virtual workshop with Shannon Pynn on March 23, 2022 about Positive Youth Development (PYD) through sport.

SPARC Alberta (www.sparcalberta.com) is an initiative building on the commitment and dedication within the sport, physical activity, and recreation (SPAR) sector to create a pathway forward for community-based grassroots sports in Alberta.

  • SPARC also provides FREE online Positive Youth Development through Sport training that brings together tips, tools, and strategies to help coaches, leaders, and volunteers (including caregivers and supporters within a sports program) create positive sport experiences for children and youth. 

Learning opportunity: organizational development

The Government of Alberta Community Development Unit delivers sessions and workshops to help organizations strengthen their services. These opportunities may be of value to local non-profit sport, recreation and culture groups.
